About Me

How i got into computers ?

Its all started in 1997 when i met with an amazing guy Tarandeep Singh Nanda who is in Australia now working as Project Leader in some Australian energy company.

He was the one who introduced me to the amazing world of computing .

GNU/Linux ?

Well its again Mr Taran Deep Singh Nanda who installed GNU/Linux on my system and told me to have a look on this amazing Open Source OS.

My first impression was "WO man i have to learn alot ..." and since then i am using GNU/Linux and tried almost all the distributions available.

I used Red Hat for almost 5 years but i had lots of problems with it like frequent updates and the deps problems so i switched to Slackware and used it for 1 year and honestly i was impressed with Slackware as it was stable and rock solid but again the problem was keeping the OS uptodate, and one fine day in year 2002 summers i decided to install Gentoo Linux on my system and it took me 3 days to install it on my P3-450/128 Mb ram.

Before i start using gentoo linux i read lots of docs on gentoo's official website and i learnt lots of things about the core GNU/Linux, as i had some previous experience with GNU/Linux i liked gentoo very much and since then gentoo is everywhere (HOME/OFFICE).

The best part in gentoo is its so easy to keep it up2date through mighty "emerge".

May be at first New Users will find it hard to install it, but i never used an OS with such a rock solid stability.I ran it on my machine for 11 months non-stop and the result was my machine died :), Then i installed it on my laptop

(Fujitsu S2110/AMD 64 BIT TURION /512 RAM/80GB HD /ATI VIDEO CARD/13.3" SCREEN/1.66 KG OF WEIGHT/4 HOURS OF BATTERY BACKUP)

and now its running like charm on my laptop :)
